Why is there more earwax in the left ear than in the right?

Earwax, also known as cerumen, is more in the left ear than in the right ear. Clinically, there are the following possibilities: The first possibility is physiological. Some patients may have more cerumen secretion in the cerumen gland sebaceous gland in the left ear canal, resulting in more cerumen in the left ear than in the right ear, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. In addition, some patients may have less smooth cerumen removal in the left ear and more in the right ear, which also leads to more cerumen residue in the left ear. In the second case, some patients have chronic purulent otitis media and often have purulent secretions mixed with cerumen in the ear canal, resulting in more cerumen in the left ear than in the right ear. In the third case, some patients have eczema of the external ear canal, fungal infection of the external ear canal or chronic otitis externa, resulting in more left ear canal secretions mixed with cerumen and more amount than the right ear.
