Yuan Zhi is mainly used for treating epilepsy and panic disorder and heart-kidney disharmony (heart fire and kidney yin deficiency, dysfunction of the physiological functions of the heart and kidneys) resulting in palpitations and forgetfulness, insomnia and dreaminess, and trance, etc. It is also used for treating the symptoms of epilepsy and panic disorder.
Far Zhi is bitter in taste and warm in nature, and has the effects of transporting the heart and kidneys (heart fire descends, kidney water rises, and mutual control), tranquilizing the mind and benefiting the intellect, eliminating carbuncles and dispersing swellings, and dispelling phlegm and opening up the orifices.
Yuanzhi can be used to treat cough with phlegm and mucus, cough and phlegm, breast swelling and pain, sores and poisons, palpitations and forgetfulness caused by the lack of communication between the heart and kidneys, insomnia and dreaming, trance, epilepsy caused by phlegm obstruction of the heart and orifices, convulsions and spasms, and so on.
Yuanzhi is often taken in decoction, the adverse effects of taking Yuanzhi are not clear, gastritis and gastric ulcers should be taken with caution.
