When a newborn has boogers deep in the nostrils, they can usually be cleared depending on how dry or wet they are. Saline rinsing, localized cleaning, suction and other measures can be used.
1. If the boogers are dry and hard, you need to spray both sides of the nose lightly with a special nasal spray saline for infants to moisten the inside of the nasal cavity and soften the secretion, and then use special tweezers for infants to clean up the boogers and gently clip the boogers and drag them outward.
2. If the boogers deep in the baby’s nostrils are more moist and sticky, you can let the baby lie down or sit down first, then gently press the forehead and spray saline in the baby’s nostrils for 2 to 4 times, then gently suck the boogers out of the nostrils with a nasal aspirator, and repeat this many times until it is cleaned up.
When in a dry environment, you can also use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of petroleum jelly to apply in the baby’s nasal cavity to prevent nasal dryness. In daily life, it is also important to pay more attention to hand hygiene for infants, as well as to drink plenty of water.
