Indications for small open lumbar spine surgery

The indications for lumbar minor open surgery mainly include simple lumbar disc herniation and lumbar disc herniation in a single segment. The so-called lumbar small open surgery is a unilateral lumbar spine laminectomy and decompression surgery with an incision of about 1-2 cm, which allows for disc removal, partial laminectomy and decompression, etc. It is a minimally invasive surgery for the lumbar spine before laminoscopy was developed. It is a minimally invasive surgery for the lumbar spine before laminectomy was carried out. It tends to be more effective in patients with simple lumbar disc herniation, lumbar disc herniation in a single segment, and so on. In the case of lumbar spondylolisthesis, lumbar spinal stenosis, and multi-segment lumbar disc herniation, the results of small open surgery are generally unsatisfactory, firstly, because of the small exposure of the field of view of small open surgery, which is unable to expose the vertebrae of multiple segments, and secondly, it is impossible to carry out vertebral fusion and reset of the slipped vertebrae in the small open surgery. Patients in this category can be treated with laminectomy or open surgery.
