There are many benign tumors of the lung. Tumors of epidermal origin include salivary gland adenoma, kratom cell adenoma, squamous cell papillary tumor, and eosinophilic granulocytic adenoma. Tumors of soft tissue origin include chondromas, fibromas, hemangiomas, granulocytic myoblastomas, fibrous mucinous tumors, lipomas, malignant tumors, intrapulmonary fibromas, smooth muscle tumors, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hyaline change, fibroatheroma, and nerve sheath tumors. Others include alveolar adenoma, teratoma, sclerosing hemangioma, pulmonary meningioma, pulmonary paraganglioma, pleomorphic adenoma, angiomyolipoma, and others. Many of these benign tumors are very rare and often require surgical removal followed by pathology for a definitive diagnosis.
