How to tell if a perianal abscess is low or high

Determination of high versus low perianal abscess can be identified by anatomical structure and clinical presentation. Anatomically, those below the anorectal ring are called perianal abscesses low grade. Above the anorectal ring, it is called high perianal abscess. According to the clinical manifestations, high abscess generally refers to the abscess of the pelvic rectal space, the location is deeper, and the patient manifests systemic symptoms of infection and toxicity, such as an elevated body temperature of more than 38.5 degrees. Low abscess generally refers to the sciatic-anal interstitial abscess, the patient manifests local redness, swelling, heat and pain.
