What’s wrong with a dry nose?

Dry nose is a relatively common clinical symptom, most of which is caused by the dryness of the external or indoor air environment, and some are caused by chronic inflammation of the nasal cavity. If the dryness of the nose is caused by dry air, patients often also have symptoms such as sticky nasal secretions, which are not easy to blow out and easily form scabs or blood crusts; nasal bleeding; and nasal prickling sensation. For the treatment of this condition, the first thing is to thoroughly improve the working and living environment according to the cause of the disease and strengthen protection, such as humidifiers, air purification, masks. Secondly, we should take appropriate vitamin supplements, such as vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, etc. Topical nasal drops of compound mint nasal drops, liquid paraffin, vegetable oil, etc. can be applied. Or you can also apply gentamycin ointment, which not only can lubricate the nasal cavity, but also can be anti-inflammatory and sterilizing. Insist on daily nasal rinsing to keep the nasal cavity clean and moist. Drugs that dilute mucus and promote the movement of mucous membrane cilia in the nasal cavity, such as Genoton, also have a good therapeutic effect on dry nasal cavity. Eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more plain water, wear a mask when you go out, and do not eat spicy and irritating food, smoke and drink. If the dry nose is caused by dry rhinitis, we must actively treat the symptoms. Dry rhinitis requires timely improvement of the living and working environment, correction of nutritional deficiencies, removal of tobacco and alcohol habits, and local symptomatic treatment. Dry nose sometimes lasts for a long time, and if the above methods still do not relieve the symptoms, it is best to go to the hospital in time, if necessary, to do an electronic nasopharyngoscopy to clarify the specific diagnosis and then treat the symptoms.
