Are gastrointestinal polyps serious?

Gastrointestinal polyps are not serious and are also very common also known as bulging lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. They are mainly benign and are usually multiple polyps, with a significant familial predisposition. It is also associated with recurrent inflammatory irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, such as recurrent gastritis or ulcer disease and inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract, which can lead to mucosal hyperplasia of the intestinal wall and eventual polyp formation. Patients may also experience significant abdominal distension and even abdominal pain, as well as abnormal bowel movements, blood in the stool and black stools. In severe cases of multiple polyps, intussusception may also occur, and gastroscopy and enteroscopy can further clarify the diagnosis. After the diagnosis of polyps, treatment should be actively carried out, as early submucosal resection can be performed by microscopy.
