Strategies for home rehabilitation care of cerebral palsy with involuntary movements

Five Steps to Inhibit Thumb Intraction: Parents can sew a cylindrical cotton ball for the child to grasp, or choose some toys of appropriate size and weight for easy grasping, and use rubber bands or other items to fix them in the palm of the child’s hand. This method can make the thumb open, to inhibit the thumb inward, to eliminate the upper limbs clenched fist and other tension. Symmetrical posture: when carrying the child, always pay attention to keep the child’s upper limbs centered, lower limbs flexed, symmetrical posture, head in the middle position, slightly forward-flexed, to prevent the irritation of tension caused by the change in head posture. Thus, asymmetric abnormal posture can be suppressed. Third, maintain the prone position: usually pay attention to let the child sleep on his back and play on his stomach. Parents can place a pillow in front of the child’s chest to facilitate the child’s active head raising. For children with obvious lower limb irritation tension and residual primitive reflexes, sandbags can be placed between the child’s legs and buttocks. Desensitization therapy: Parents can usually tap the child’s skin around the mouth, cheeks, heart of both hands, heart of both feet and sensitive parts of the spine and scapula. Each time 20 times per part, 3-5 times a day, 20-30 minutes each time, to relieve the child’s irritation tension. Music therapy: The child can listen to the music of the five elements of Chinese medicine, Buddhist scriptures, Mozart Serenade for Strings, Piano Sonata No. 8, Nocturne in a minor key by Chopin, Water Music Suite, Volgava River, etc., 4-6 times a day for 20-30 minutes each time.
