What to do if your head is swollen and painful

The most common type of headache is tension headache. The pain is related to the patient’s mood swings, tension, anxiety, insomnia, etc. There is a swelling and tightness in the head. The pain lasts for a long time, but usually does not affect the patient’s daily work and life. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and lofenozide, can be taken to relieve the symptoms. At the same time, patients should reduce stress, stay optimistic, ensure sleep, and do not have violent mood swings. If the head swelling and pain is severe, accompanied by nausea and vomiting, not excluding increased intracranial pressure, it is necessary to consult a neurologist for a head CT or head MRI examination, excluding headaches caused by cerebrovascular disease. If the headache is caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage or cerebral hemorrhage, prompt surgery and treatment such as dehydration to lower cranial pressure are required.
