What’s wrong with your ears when you stand up?

Blockage of the ear when standing up may be related to secretory otitis media, cerebral blood supply insufficiency, cerumen embolism and other diseases.
1. Secretory otitis media: Inflammatory oozing from the middle ear due to infection, allergy and abnormal function of the Eustachian tube results in the formation of fluid in the middle ear cavity. When the body position changes, such as standing up, the fluid in the middle ear drum chamber oscillation, or may be drained by the sinus to the middle ear drum chamber, and then block the Eustachian tube drum chamber mouth, the ears of the performance of stuffy blockage.
2. Insufficient cerebral blood supply: when the cerebral artery atherosclerosis, vertebral basilar artery walking abnormality or pathologic deformity, often due to ischemia of the posterior circulation and lead to insufficient cerebral blood supply. When standing up, gravity triggers instantaneous ischemia of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery, which leads to circulatory disorders in the inner ear and transient stuffy ears.
3. Cerumen embolism: Due to excessive cerumen in the external ear canal, decreased self-cleaning ability of the ear canal and other factors triggering the accumulation of cerumen in the ear canal, in the process of cerumen embolism, cerumen clusters can be in the deep part of the ear canal, the inner side of the isthmus of the external ear canal and move around, and when one stops standing up, with the change of body position, the cerumen plugs can be tightly adhered to the surface of the tympanic membrane, blocking the conduction of ambient sound, resulting in the symptom of stuffy and blocked ears.
When the phenomenon of blockage of the ear when standing up occurs frequently, it is necessary to actively consult a doctor for systematic examination in order to make a clear diagnosis.
