Since the publication of the conservative treatment of adenoid hypertrophy, many parents of patients have been inquiring about it, so due to time constraints, I would like to quote the article of my mentor, Professor Ma Lingguo, again in the hope that it will be beneficial. (See “Unique non-surgical treatment of adenoid hypertrophy” for the original article). Zhao Yingbin, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Haikou People’s Hospital This method requires a special position for dropping medication, the specific position requirements are as follows: face up to the sky, lie flat on the bed, put a pillow under the shoulders, tilt the head as far back as possible, nostrils facing the sky, the best position is to tilt the head back at an angle of 45 degrees (see the figure below). If the mouth is not bitter after dropping the medicine, it means that the body position is correct and the medicine has reached the adenoids, if the mouth is bitter after dropping the medicine, it means that the body position is incorrect and the medicine flows into the mouth at this time, as the medicine does not reach the adenoids, it is wasted, then we should readjust the body position, point the pillow higher and tilt the head back a little more. About the amount of drops, the gold standard is generally about two bottles per week, at least 1 and a half bottles; the number of drops per time (5 drops) is only an approximate reference, not the gold standard. It is best to maintain this particular position for 10 minutes, or at least 5 minutes, after the drops are administered.
