Where does the foreign body that gets in the eye end up?

The foreign body that enters the eye may be discharged by tears, mixed in the eye secretion or merged with the nasal secretion. 1. Drained out by tears: After the foreign body enters into the eye, there may be obvious foreign body sensation, and even foreign body manifestation can be observed. Under the stimulation of the foreign body, sometimes the eye will secrete a lot of tears, so the foreign body may be drained out by tears. 2. Mixed in the eye secretion: when the foreign body moves to the deep position inside the eyelid, it is usually not felt. Due to the oil secreted by the blepharoplasty glands and some foreign matter, dust and residue after evaporation of tears from outside into the eyes are mixed together, eventually forming eye secretions. 3. Nasal secretions are fused together: the nasolacrimal duct is connected to the nasal cavity through the surface of the eyeball, and part of the foreign body will usually flow through the nasolacrimal duct together with the tears into the nasal cavity, and may eventually become part of the nasal snot. It is recommended that patients with foreign bodies in their eyes seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow medical advice.
