What is Tourette’s?

Tourette’s disease, also known as Tourette’s syndrome, is a central nervous system disorder that occurs in children and adolescents. Clinical manifestations include uncontrolled twitching of a body part, sometimes with strange noises. Tourette’s syndrome often begins in childhood. Affected children will make some strange movements involuntarily, such as twitching, blinking, pouting, shrugging their shoulders, shaking their heads, etc. Many of them also make strange noises when twitching. Children with this disorder are often accompanied by attention deficit. They will encounter various problems in learning and normal life and need careful care and proper guidance from parents and teachers. Comprehensive measures such as medication and psycho-behavioral therapy are also needed to improve the condition. Whether or not medication is needed, and what medication is needed, varies from child to child. It is recommended to follow up regularly at the hospital, and the doctor will constantly revise the treatment plan according to the condition.
