The endometrium is 16mm thick and the echogenicity is not uniform.

Endometrial thickness of 16mm with uneven echogenicity may be caused by endometritis, endometrial polypoid hyperplasia, endometrial cancer and so on.
1. Endometritis: ultrasonography suggests that the endometrium is 16mm thick with uneven echogenicity, which indicates that the endometrium is thickened, while endometritis can cause endometrial thickening with uneven echogenicity due to inflammatory stimulation, and may be accompanied by lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal secretion with foul odor, which can be diagnosed by combining with medical history, ultrasonography, gynecological examination and vaginal secretion examination.
2. Endometrial polypoid hyperplasia: there may be history of uterine scraping, abortion or endometrial polypectomy, etc. Endometrial thickening may be caused by uterine operation, which may lead to excessive menstruation and prolonged menstruation, etc. The diagnosis may be assisted by medical history, clinical manifestations and ultrasonography.
3. Endometrial cancer: it can also cause uneven endometrial thickening, accompanied by irregular vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge of bloody fluid or plasma secretion, which is mostly seen in postmenopausal women, and the combination of medical history, clinical manifestations, ultrasonography and diagnostic scraping can assist in the diagnosis.
Endometrial thickness of 16mm uneven echogenicity may have other causes, which need to be identified and actively dealt with under the guidance of a doctor.
