What to do with full-month baby’s flatulence

Intestinal flatulence in newborns may be a physiological phenomenon caused by swallowing too much air, or it may be a symptomatic manifestation of certain diseases, such as lactose intolerance and intussusception. Commonly used treatments such as general treatment, restriction of lactose intake, medication, air enema and so on. According to different causes, different treatment methods are adopted.
1. Physiological phenomenon: swallowing too much air during feeding may also lead to intestinal flatulence in babies, which usually does not need special treatment. Gently massage around the baby’s umbilicus in a clockwise direction, and pay attention to timely burping after feeding, which can help relieve flatulence.
2. Lactose intolerance: Due to lactase deficiency, the lactose ingested by the child is transformed into short-chain fatty acids and hydrogen by the intestinal bacteria in the colon, which can cause abdominal pain, intestinal gas and bloating and other symptoms. Initially, you can change to lactose-free milk powder or add lactase, and gradually adjust the lactose intake according to your tolerance level.
3. Intussusception: Intussusception is mostly caused by the ileum passing through the ileocecal valve into the cecum, which may be related to the incomplete development of gastrointestinal function and intestinal infections in children, and may cause abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, and abdominal salami-like lumps, etc. Untreated intussusception may be fatal. Untreated intussusception can be fatal, so it is important to take timely treatment such as air enema or surgery.
Full-month babies with symptoms of intestinal flatulence should seek prompt medical attention after physiologic factors have been ruled out to avoid delays. The above medications should be used in accordance with medical advice.
