Hazards of radiofrequency tumor ablation

Radiofrequency ablation treatment for malignant tumors is a kind of minimally invasive interventional treatment, which is generally not too harmful to patients. However, some RF ablation treatment may cause bleeding, infection, fever, pain and other adverse effects. If ablation is performed on lung tumor, there is also the possibility of pneumothorax. However, these reactions are relatively mild and usually will be gradually reduced or even disappear after symptomatic treatment. However, if a large amount of pneumothorax occurs after ablation, untimely treatment may sometimes take the life of the patient. If the operation of radiofrequency ablation is improper and damages the large blood vessels around the tumor, especially the large arteries, the patient may also die from hemorrhage.
