The umbilical cord is the link between the mother and the fetus, and blood and oxygen supply comes from the umbilical cord. One end is attached to the fetus at the umbilical chord and the other end is attached to the center of the placenta. When the entrance of the umbilical cord is at the edge of the placenta, it is called a racquetball placenta. Racket placenta is an abnormality that develops during the development of the placenta and umbilical cord. If the umbilical cord entrance is at the lower edge of the placenta, the placenta has a low position, and when it is located in the lower part of the uterus, the fetal prenatal part may compress the umbilical cord, affecting the blood and oxygen supply to the fetus. Especially after labor, it is easy to cause fetal hypoxia and endanger the fetus. If the umbilical cord entrance is on both sides or on the upper edge of the placenta, it is often harmless to the fetus and a normal delivery can be chosen.
