Can you eat seafood for gout

Seafood is usually not recommended for people with gout. Gout is a joint disease caused by the deposition of sodium urate in the body and is directly related to hyperuricemia caused by disturbances in purine metabolism and/or impaired uric acid excretion. Uric acid is a metabolite of purine, which is excreted from the body together with urine. Seafood belongs to the high-purine food group, which can cause an imbalance between uric acid production and excretion, thus inducing an acute attack of gout. Therefore, gout patients are not recommended to eat seafood. In addition, it is recommended that gout patients eat more alkaline foods, such as tomatoes, spinach, etc., can alkalize the urine. Reduce the intake of high purine food, should limit the consumption of alcohol. Gout patients are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology department of regular hospitals for detailed consultation and standardized treatment in accordance with medical advice.
