Bile reflux gastritis is the damage of gastric mucosa caused by the reflux of bile, pancreatic fluid and other components from the duodenum to the stomach, and can present with symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, nausea and vomiting. It can be treated by lifestyle modification, medication and surgery.
1. Life management: patients with bile reflux gastritis should have a light diet, try to avoid the intake of greasy, fried, barbecue and other foods, eat small meals, do not drink alcohol, tea, coffee and other beverages, avoid overeating.
2. Drug therapy: patients with bile reflux gastritis can take drugs such as domperidone and mosapride to promote gastrointestinal peristalsis; take drugs such as aluminum thioglycollate and colloidal bismuth pectin to protect the gastric mucosa; and if there is Helicobacter pylori infection, they also need to take quadruple antimicrobial drugs such as omeprazole, bismuth potassium citrate, amoxicillin and clarithromycin to treat the infection.
3. Surgical treatment: If patients with bile reflux gastritis don’t get better through lifestyle modification and medication, they can undergo surgical treatment such as biliary bypass.
Patients with bile reflux gastritis are not recommended to use their own medication, it is recommended to go to the hospital to check the Helicobacter pylori breath test and other items under the guidance of the doctor’s treatment.
