Postural drainage is mainly indicated in diseases of the respiratory system, where the inflammatory response causes an increase in secretions in the respiratory tract, which cannot be discharged by voluntary coughing, such as pulmonary abscesses in the elderly, pediatric idiopathic interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, pediatric lung abscesses, bronchiectasis, pulmonary atelectasis, emphysema combined with severe lung infections, including acute pulmonary infections of various kinds, where there is a large amount of sputum that cannot be discharged. It also includes acute episodes of acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis, which can trigger postnasal drip syndrome and lead to increased inflammatory secretions in the respiratory tract. When performing postural drainage, it is important to pay attention to being able to expel the sputum as soon as possible, doing it 3-4 times a day for about 15-30 minutes each time.
