The treatment of sensorineural deafness is divided into two main areas: one is pharmacotherapy; the other is adjuvant therapy. The first is vasodilator medication, which is used to improve the circulation of the blood vessels in the ear and increase the blood supply to the inner ear, and the common drugs include Salvia miltiorrhiza and Ginkgo biloba extract. Because of the existence of the principle of metaplasia in this disease, hormone therapy is useful, including oral hormone, intravenous hormone, and intra-dural hormone injection. There are also adjuvant treatments, including acupuncture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Of course, patients with sudden deafness who are flat or totally deaf can be treated clinically with thrombolytic drugs, such as bactrim and the like.
