Causes of children with cerebral palsy

Causes of children with cerebral palsy include prenatal risk factors, abnormal brain development, perinatal brain injury, brain injury related to preterm labor, and postnatal brain injury. 1. Prenatal risk factors: e.g. chorioamnionitis, intrauterine growth retardation, toxic exposure. 2. Abnormalities of brain development: such as metabolic or hereditary abnormalities of brain development, malformations of brain development, and so on. 3. Perinatal brain injury: such as birth injury, neonatal stroke, ischemic-hypoxic encephalopathy, etc. 4. Brain injury related to preterm delivery: such as intraventricular hemorrhage, periventricular cerebral white matter softening, and so on. 5. Postpartum brain injury: such as central nervous system infection, kernicterus, etc. Mothers are advised to have a good pre-pregnancy checkup and strictly follow the doctor’s instructions for pregnancy care to avoid the formation of children with cerebral palsy. For children with cerebral palsy, parents should bring them to the doctor in time for treatment and rehabilitation to minimize the negative consequences of the disease.
