Cutaneous tuberculosis is a type of tuberculosis and is a skin lesion caused by direct invasion of the skin by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In the treatment, the skin is treated as a systemic infection and the principles of TB treatment are followed: early, adequate, regular and complete. The drugs are mostly used in combination, often with isoniazid, rifampin, streptomycin, ethambutol, pyrazinamide, and mostly with the standard 2+4 treatment approach. A small percentage of warty skin nodules can also be treated surgically, but most of them leave scars. The doctor should be consulted for a specific treatment plan that is appropriate to the specific condition. Also TB is a contagious disease and if you have skin TB, you should be careful to dispose of your own sputum, preferably wrapped in paper and burned, to avoid infecting others.
