Consequences of stopping TB treatment in the middle of treatment

Discontinuation of TB treatment in the middle of treatment can lead to drug resistance in some patients. TB treatment advocates regular, full and adequate dosage, and discontinuation in the middle of treatment can be detrimental to treatment compliance, leading to the resurgence of some killed TB bacteria and the emergence of drug resistance due to the recognition of anti-TB drugs by some TB bacteria. If there are no special circumstances during treatment, do not stop the medication in the middle of the course. Some patients are forced to discontinue the drug, for example, due to severe liver function abnormalities or severe allergic reactions, and have no choice but to discontinue the drug. In general, do not discontinue medication without special circumstances, as drug resistance may occur. If some of the tuberculosis bacilli become drug-resistant when treated again, the initial drug will not be effective. Therefore, it is recommended that all TB patients cooperate with their doctors in the whole course of medication and do not stop medication in the middle of the course.
