Difference between dirty dryness and depression

Dirty dryness syndrome, is an evidence type in Chinese medicine. It is a disease mainly characterized by trance, sadness and desire to cry, inability to be autonomous, disturbance in the heart, inability to be at peace with oneself, disturbed sleep, and even disordered speech and behavior, and frequent yawning. This symptom is similar to depression in Western medicine, which is also called affective bi-directional disorder. However, this symptom can also be seen in dysthymia, vegetative nerve dysfunction, menopausal syndrome, premenstrual tension and so on. So dirty dryness and depression cannot be equated.
