It is generally recommended to rest for about 1-2 weeks after epiglottis cyst surgery.
Epiglottis cysts are usually found on the lingual surface of the epiglottis or on the free edge of the epiglottis. The cause of the cysts may be related to the blockage of small submucosal mucous gland ducts on the epiglottis surface, or may be related to inflammatory stimulation or developmental malformation. Mucous gland secretions cannot be discharged effectively, thus gradually forming cysts.
The clinical symptoms of epiglottis cysts mainly include: foreign body sensation in the throat, patients always feel that there is something in the throat, coughing and swallowing. In rare cases, larger cysts may also block the vocal folds, causing breathing difficulties.
If the epiglottis cyst is large and has obvious clinical symptoms, surgical resection can be considered. General anesthesia is used to support laryngoscopic epiglottic cyst excision. Postoperative wound recovery usually takes 2 weeks. After surgery, it is recommended to rest for about 1-2 weeks, eat warm fluids and semi-fluids, and avoid spicy and hard, gritty foods. Keep your mouth clean and rinse frequently to prevent infection and bleeding.
If you have epiglottis cysts, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals in time for standardized treatment.
