Nasopharyngeal cancer life expectancy

Nasopharyngeal cancer is prevalent in middle-aged and old-aged men aged 40-60, and its 5-year survival rate is 50% with regular treatment. Factors affecting the life expectancy of nasopharyngeal cancer patients include: tumor stage, whether there are lymph nodes and distant metastases, timeliness of treatment and sensitivity of regimen. Early-stage nasopharyngeal cancer, such as stage I and II, has better treatment effect, as nasopharyngeal cancer belongs to low-differentiated squamous carcinoma, and radiotherapy techniques are preferred, including cobalt-60, linear gas pedal as well as conformal intensity-modulated radiotherapy. Advanced nasopharyngeal cancer is usually treated with chemotherapy and then radiotherapy when the tumor is confined. The overall prognosis is still good.
