Why Urodynamics

Urodynamic examination is designed to study the physiological functions and dysfunctions of urinary storage and voiding, which can visualize the function of the urinary tract, and has a certain significance and role in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of urinary tract diseases. Urodynamic examination is a series of tests to detect the pressure, flow rate and bioelectrical activity in various parts of the urinary tract, so as to reproduce some of the symptoms appearing in patients because of urinary tract diseases, and make reasonable explanations for the causes of the relevant symptoms, which can be divided into upper urodynamics examination and lower urodynamics examination. The purpose of lower urodynamic examination includes the evaluation of voiding function, urethral control ability, forceps contraction and bladder outlet obstruction, the morphology and function of the lower urinary tract, the coordination between the pelvic floor muscle and the forceps muscle in the voiding period, and the function of the bladder in the filling period, such as the function of urinary storage and the function of sensation, and so on. And the upper urodynamic examination is mainly to evaluate the upper urinary tract obstruction. The items included in the urodynamic examination are relatively diverse, and their clinical significance should not be ignored, and individuals should actively cooperate with the examination.
