Vocal polyp formation is mainly caused by improper use of voice. When the vocal cords pronounce words, the vocal cords are hit very hard by the high frequency vibration. If you use your voice for too long, or if you use your voice with too much volume or intensity, or if you use your voice for a long period of time and cause damage to your vocal cords, it can cause the growth of polyps. If the polyp grows at the edge of the vocal folds, a very small polyp can cause hoarseness. If the polyp grows on the surface of the vocal folds instead of on the edge, there may be no symptoms. Therefore, if hoarseness occurs, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital in time, through laryngoscopy, to check whether there is a polyp on the top of the vocal folds or to exclude other diseases, so that timely treatment can be carried out and early recovery can be achieved.
