Symptoms of Damp-Heat in the San Jiao

The symptoms of damp-heat in the three jiao, namely the upper, middle and lower jiao, are somewhat different. 1. Damp-heat in the epiglottis: it can be manifested as fever and malignant cold, or fever in the afternoon, or no fever, no sweating, heaviness of the limbs, heaviness of the head, chest tightness and epigastric plumpness, loss of appetite, sticky and greasy in the mouth without thirst, and whitish and greasy tongue. 2. Damp-heat in the middle Jiao: it can be manifested as fever and sweating, malignant fever, epigastric constipation, abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, intestinal tinnitus, loose stools (thin and unshaped stools) or diarrhea, eating little and not knowing how to starve, dry mouth and thirst, irritability and insomnia, some patients can see faint skin spots (slight skin rash), confusion, fever and chills. 3. Lower Jiao Damp-Heat: It can be manifested as dribbling of urine, burning pain, retention of urine (urine dribbling or not being able to urinate), yellow and red urine color, red and swollen urethra, fishy and smelly stools, secretion, loose stools, or blood in stools, burning in the anus, distension and pain in the abdomen, yellowish-white smelly urine in women, spermatorrhea, impotence, and so on in men.
