What is dry syndrome?

  Dry syndrome is divided into primary and secondary, the former exists alone, the latter coexists with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis and so on. More than 80% of patients with dry mouth syndrome have dry mouth symptoms, which are caused by the decrease of salivary gland secretion. Most of the patients with dry mouth syndrome can not swallow dry food because salivary glands secrete less saliva, and teeth lose the moistening, flushing and nutrition effect of saliva, so the teeth gradually become black and fall off in pieces, and finally only the residual roots remain. In addition, because of the decrease of lacrimal gland secretion function, the patient often feels dryness in both eyes, less tears or no tears, can’t cry tears when he is excited, feels foreign body rubbing or burning in the eyes, heavy eyelids, feels curtain shading in front of the eyes, the patient is photophobic, eye pain, repeated episodes of keratitis and conjunctivitis; some patients have dry skin, dry nose without snot, coughing and spitting gummy sputum, dry stool, vaginal dryness, difficulty in sexual intercourse, etc.  Symptoms of dry syndrome: 1. Dry eyes and dry mouth in middle-aged women and above.  2.Atypical joint pain, and does not meet other diagnostic criteria of arthritis.  3. Rapid appearance of tooth decay or tooth loss in recent months or years.  4.Recurrent swelling of parotid gland.  5.Morning discharge from the corner of the eyes.  6.Unexplained liver and bile duct damage, etc.  If dry syndrome can be treated early, it can effectively slow down the progress of the disease and has a better prognosis.
