Moxifloxacin hydrochloride is a quinolone antibiotic used to treat adult patients with upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as acute sinusitis or acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and infections of the skin and soft tissues. The duration of treatment should be determined by the severity of symptoms and clinical response. Chronic bronchitis usually needs to be taken for 5 consecutive days in acute attacks and community acquired pneumonia usually needs to be taken for 10 consecutive days. In the case of acute sinusitis, one week is generally recommended. In the case of treatment of skin and soft tissue infections, the recommended duration of treatment is 7 days.
