Menstruation after an abortion

The next menstrual period after an abortion occurs about one month after the abortion, i.e., it still follows the woman’s previous menstrual cycle. If there is no normal menstrual cycle for about 30 days after the abortion, or if it is significantly longer than the previous menstrual cycle, close attention should be paid. In the normal case of absence of menstruation one week after the observation, it is necessary to repeat the ultrasound to find out the thickness of the uterine lining. In this case, it is best to perform a hysteroscopy to rule out the possibility of uterine adhesions, and if so, it is best to perform a separation of the uterine adhesions, after which estradiol and other medications should be given to further minimize the likelihood of recurrence of uterine adhesions.
