Cryptorchidism is a condition in which the scrotum is empty and the testicles do not exist in it, but in tissues outside the scrotum, such as above the pubic symphysis or in the groin, or even in the abdominal cavity or outside the peritoneum, and it is often difficult to touch the testicles, or more commonly, the testicles are hidden, so it is called cryptorchidism when they cannot be touched. It is a congenital disease in which the testicles do not descend into the scrotum due to mechanical spacing or insufficient hormone secretion during the process of development. However, after half a year, the testicles cannot be cured by themselves and need to be treated by surgery or medication. The timing of surgery is usually chosen between 1-2 weeks of age, while medication can be used on a trial basis 8-12 months after birth.
