What to do about cryptorchidism in a six-year-old boy

Cryptorchidism in six year old boys needs to be treated by surgery in time, if it is unilateral cryptorchidism, then it is expected to retain the reproductive function, even if it is bilateral cryptorchidism, it should be operated in time, so as to reduce the probability of the patient to suffer from testicular tumor in the future.
Cryptorchidism, also known as undescended testis, may occur unilaterally or bilaterally. Cryptorchidism discovered at the age of six can no longer be promoted by using hormones such as chorionic gonadotropin and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone to promote the descent of testis, and it can only be treated by surgery, but since the child is already six years old, the affected side of the testis may lose the reproductive function.
However, even if the affected testicle loses its reproductive function, if the child has only one cryptorchid testicle, the other testicle can still retain its reproductive function. Additionally, if a procedure such as subtesticular fixation is not performed after discovery at the age of six, then it may result in the patient developing a testicular tumor in adulthood.
If a six-year-old boy is diagnosed with cryptorchidism, follow your doctor’s instructions for treatment.
