Cryptorchid testes can be categorized as high or low according to their location, where the low cryptorchid testes are located between the inner and outer rings of the inguinal canal. Cryptorchidism occurs when it descends to a position between the inner and outer rings of the inguinal canal during normal development and fails to continue descending into the scrotum, which is why the condition is also known as undescended testis, and the majority of cryptorchidisms are low cryptorchidisms, with relatively small proportions of high cryptorchidisms.
