Childhood dwarfism is a Western medical condition, but in Chinese medicine, it belongs to the category of “five delays (refers to delay in standing, walking, speaking, hair and teeth)”. In general, Chinese medicine can treat childhood dwarfism. Chinese medicine treatment for the five delays requires evidence-based treatment: 1. Liver and kidney insufficiency (weakness of liver and kidney): the development of sitting, standing, walking and teeth is obviously later than that of children of the same age, neck, muscle weakness or limb paralysis, tremor of hands and feet, unsteady gait, low intelligence, or aphasia, deafness, and dementia. It can be treated with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan. 2. Deficiency of the heart and spleen (weakness of the heart and spleen): mental retardation, yellow face, thinness, slow speech, limb weakness, muscle flaccidity, lying down and little movement, unsteady gait, poor appetite, and salivation at the corners of the mouth (drooling). It can be treated with Tun Yuan San and Calamus Pill. If medication is needed, it should be identified by a doctor and standardized treatment should be followed.
