Rivaroxaban is recommended to be taken in the morning and evening if taken twice daily, or in the morning with a meal if taken once daily.
Rivaroxaban is an antithrombotic medication used to prevent venous thrombosis and to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in adults. When treating DVT and PE, the recommended dose for initial therapy is twice daily, morning and evening, for the first three weeks, followed by maintenance therapy of once daily, taken in the morning. It prevents thrombosis in the left ear of the atrial fibrillation and is recommended at 20 mg once daily, or 15 mg once daily at the discretion of the physician in patients with low body weight and advanced age (>75 years). Rivaroxaban is recommended to be taken with meals.
Rivaroxaban should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. The most common adverse reaction during use is bleeding, and is contraindicated in those who are allergic to rivaroxaban, those who have clinically significant active bleeding, those who have a lesion or condition that poses a significant risk of hemorrhage, those who have coagulation abnormalities, and pregnant and breastfeeding women.
