Should Cancer Patients Have Surgery

The treatment plan for cancer patients should be based on the patient’s constitution, condition and other specifics.
Many people will link cancer with terminal illnesses and will inevitably consider surgical treatment, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy. In fact, not all cancer patients need to undergo surgery.
If the cancer has progressed to middle or advanced stages, even if comprehensive treatments such as surgical treatment or chemotherapy are adopted, the therapeutic effect may not be good, and the condition may even deteriorate after surgery. For cancer patients whose prognosis is not well assessed after surgical treatment, doctors will usually recommend conservative treatment to try to improve the quality of survival and alleviate the patient’s pain.
Besides, a few patients are not suitable for surgical treatment, but chemotherapy or radiotherapy is more effective.
Therefore, whether a cancer patient should undergo surgery or not should depend on the actual condition of the cancer patient as well as the sensitivity of the treatment. If a cancer patient does not have the indications for surgical treatment and blindly undergoes surgical treatment, the loss will outweigh the gain.
