Cervical cysts are mostly detectable on ultrasound; cysts that are too small may be difficult to detect on ultrasound.
Cervical cysts are one of the manifestations of chronic cervicitis. They are usually due to blockage of the cervical glands, causing retention of secretions and the formation of benign cyst-like lesions, which generally do not cause obvious symptoms.
The cervical cysts may appear as single or multiple round or round-like echogenic areas at the cervix, and the uterus and bilateral adnexa can also be visualized by vaginal ultrasound. However, some cysts that are too small may be difficult to visualize on ultrasound.
In addition to ultrasound, cervical cytology and HPV (human papillomavirus) testing can be used to determine whether there are cervical lesions, and if necessary, colposcopic biopsy can be performed in a timely manner to identify cervical lesions.
It is recommended that women should undergo regular medical checkups, and consult a medical professional in time to receive standardized diagnosis and treatment when abnormalities are detected.
