The efficacy of interventional fibroid artery embolization is absolutely certain, with most patients seeing results 4-5 days after embolization. The fibroids will slowly shrink and continue to shrink for half a year. At the beginning, it may shrink faster, but later it shrinks slower, and the recurrence rate is very low, while the recurrence rate of excision surgery is very high. Therefore, embolization surgery is less invasive, less painful, quicker recovery and more effective, so patients can be assured of the treatment. Uterine fibroids are particularly common in young and middle-aged women. Fibroids can occur under the endometrium, in the middle of the myometrium, and under the plasma membrane. They can grow medially, centrally, or externally. They can be single or multiple, and in fact multiple fibroids are very common, e.g. 5-6 or even more. Fibroids and uterus size can reach up to 10 cm. therefore patients need to be treated as the symptoms are very serious such as heavy and prolonged periods, even causing anemia, heart disease or pressure symptoms such as frequent urination or constipation due to pressure on the rectum. The traditional way is to have a hysterectomy or to perform a myomectomy, which are too invasive compared to interventional surgical treatments.
