It is important to note that the diagnosis of a fracture following an ankle sprain must be based on imaging findings. Plain X-rays or CTs can determine whether a fracture has occurred, while MRIs for ligament injuries can be definitive. Ankle sprains should go to the hospital in a timely manner to clarify the injury, do not make unauthorized judgments, so as not to delay treatment.
