An absorbing denture is still essentially a full denture and is also removable. After every meal, patients are advised to remove it for cleaning. Before going to bed, the denture needs to be taken off and soaked in a cup of cold water. The alveolar ridge has been under a heavy workload all day and needs to be removed during the night to get a proper rest. Although the absorbent denture has a better absorbency, it does not mean that proper oral hygiene is not necessary. A large amount of food residue left in the mouth can easily lead to denture stomatitis and mucosal inflammation, and patients are advised to follow the traditional full denture maintenance.
