The time needed to recover from sciatic node synovitis depends on the condition, with recurrent inflammation usually requiring two to four weeks for symptoms to improve significantly, and acute sciatic node bursitis usually recovering relatively well in about two weeks. Acute sciatic bursitis usually recovers in about two weeks. It is not possible to generalize as it is affected by treatment, severity of the disease, age and other factors.
Sciatic bursitis is usually characterized by pain caused by aseptic inflammation of the sciatic nodes. Non-steroidal drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium extended-release tablets will be given to relieve pain during the acute onset of sciatic bursitis, and hot compresses can also be used to promote blood circulation in order to relieve pain. Acute sciatic node bursitis usually takes two weeks to recover.
In old, recurrent sciatic node bursitis, if the cyst is large and still recurring after two to three injection treatments, or even suppurating and infected, surgery is recommended to remove the bursa and drain it. Surgical recovery time is usually longer, taking 2 to 4 weeks, and in some cases, recovery is slower, even taking 4 to 6 months.
Bursitis of the sciatic node should be treated in a regular hospital to avoid delay in treatment.
