The inability to straighten the arm can be exercised through several methods of passive elbow joint straightening training and surgical treatment, as follows: I. Passive elbow joint straightening training: If the inability to straighten the elbow joint is mild and is caused by soft tissue scarring, passive elbow joint straightening training can be performed under the guidance of a rehabilitation physician. Weight-bearing exercises are possible, but excessive weight-bearing should be avoided and violent rehabilitation should not be used, as this may cause ossifying myositis of the elbow joint and lead to severe limitation of elbow joint movement. Ice therapy is also required after each rehabilitation to suppress local swelling. Second, surgical treatment: If there is a bony block, surgical treatment needs to be considered. The blocking bone spur is removed through minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to restore the range of motion of the elbow joint as much as possible. Simultaneous release of surrounding soft tissue adhesions, if any, is also required. The patient will also need to adhere to postoperative rehabilitation with passive flexion and extension of the elbow joint, along with ice therapy.
