After recovering from ankle fracture, joint mobility exercises, muscle training as well as balance and coordination exercises should be carried out under doctor’s guidance. 1. Joint mobility exercises: During the fracture healing period, it is recommended that the ankle joint should perform active movements in plantarflexion, dorsiflexion, inversion and eversion in all directions and stretch the contracted fibrous tissues. The amplitude of movement should follow the principle of gradual increase. If the ankle joint is stiff, it can be loosened by manipulation and heat therapy. 2. Muscle training: It is recommended to perform isometric contraction training for the quadriceps and calf muscles, and practice standing and walking. The intensity of muscle training should be gradually increased after fracture recovery, but within the range of pain-free exercise. 3. Balance and coordination exercises: after the fracture is healed, standing balance training can be carried out under the guidance of the rehabilitator, such as standing on one leg on the affected side. Ankle fracture should be actively rehabilitated to maximize the recovery of joint function and improve the patient’s quality of life. Exercise after recovery from ankle fracture needs to be carried out under the guidance of a professional rehabilitation physician, so as to avoid secondary injuries caused by incorrect exercise when training on your own.
