What are the alpha-blockers

Alpha receptor blockers are widely used in clinical practice. Alpha receptors are mainly distributed in the heart, coronary arteries, skin mucosa, skeletal muscle vessels, cerebral vessels, and gastrointestinal smooth muscle and sphincter. The representative drugs are phentolamine mesylate, bunazosin, terazosin, prazosin. In addition, there are doxazosin and tolazoline, all of which are alpha-blockers. There are also some α-blockers for hypertensive crisis, such as uradil hydrochloride, which is widely used in clinical practice. α-blockers can block noradrenergic neurotransmitters, or exogenous adrenomimetic drugs, which bind to α-receptors to produce anti-adrenergic effects.
