Acupuncture is effective in treating autism and can be used as one of the treatment modalities. Autism belongs to the category of “five delays” in Chinese medicine, and the principle of treatment is to wake up the brain, open the orifices and tranquilize the mind. The main acupoints used are Si Shen Cong and Shen Men.
