What is Ganoderma lucidum?

Ganoderma lucidum is a traditional Chinese medicine with the properties of tonifying the qi and tranquilizing the mind, relieving cough and calming asthma (stopping coughing and calming wheezing). Lingzhi is mainly used to treat restlessness of the heart and mind, insomnia and palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), cough and wheezing due to lung deficiency, shortness of breath due to deficiency labor, and lack of appetite. Clinically, Ganoderma can be used to treat restlessness, insomnia, palpitations, excessive dreaming, forgetfulness, tiredness and fatigue, and poor appetite caused by deficiency of qi and blood and loss of nourishment of the heart. It can be swallowed alone or combined with Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Fructus Jujubae Nuclei, Fructus Piperitiae, Longan Flesh, and so on. Note that it is contraindicated in solid cases and at the beginning of an external infection. Ganoderma lucidum is a strong inhibitor of platelet aggregation, so it should be used with caution in people with bleeding disorders and bleeding tendency. Allergy sufferers should be cautious.
